“Why do two colors, one put next to the other, sing? Can one really explain this? No. Just as one can never learn how to paint”. Pablo Picasso
Color is what draws me. As Dale Chihuly stated: “I never met a color I didn’t like.” Even though that isn’t completely true for me, I have found that through the process of combining colors, I can create something quite different than either color accomplishes alone. Including texture in my paintings with a variety of mediums, paints, and brush strokes, draws me want to want touch the completed paintings (and I have found makes others want to do so as well). I want my paintings to create a feeling of fluidity and texture. I approach my painting with an idea of a color palette and textured mediums and then they develop in an organic way. I pull colors and sometimes pour paint and spray while watching the paints puddle and move. I hope others get a sense of color, play, and dynamism when they see my paintings.
